Flipgrid is a free, simple way to foster short video-based discussions on classroom topics.
Teachers create a grid about a specific topic or prompt, and students record short video responses. Videos can be created with ink, whiteboards, filters, images, emojis and more. Once the video is created, others in the space can view videos and respond to them.
Students could create a video to show mastery of a math problem, comment on a favourite book character, or discuss a current event. Flipgrid allows students to build and strengthen social learning communities as they discuss their ideas with their peers.
Flipgrid was acquired by Microsoft in 2018 and all accounts and features were made free to educators.
